Alan Cecil Lilly, 64, of Hilldale passed away Saturday October 24, 2015 at Summers Nursing and Rehab Center following a short illness.
Born February 19, 1951 at Beckley, he was a son of the late Edward Timberlake and Mary Vest Lilly.
Alan was of the Baptist faith. Alan was very independent although he was diagnosed at an early age with cerebral palsy. He learned how to walk using crutches and learned how to fall to avoid injury. Alan learned to ride a two wheel bicycle for a while before learning to drive a golf cart. He was often seen on the back roads of Nimitz talking to friends and neighbors. His parents built him a small house on the back property at Nimitz where Alan lived on his own as long as his health permitted. Without his family's dedication and support as well as Alan's determination his life would not have impacted the community and set an example of what we all should be.
He was preceded in death by a great nephew, Riley Humphrey.
Those left to cherish his memory include; one brother, Dr. Edward Lilly of Hilldale; two nieces, Michelle Humphrey and husband Adam of Teays Valley and Tiffany Lilly of Princeton; one nephew, Eddie Lilly and wife Jill of Marie; great nieces and nephews, Christian and Kylie Lilly, Melody and Bryce Adkins, Pierce, Brie and Noah Muncy, Elizabeth, Zachary and Luke Humphrey.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Elder Tommy Pack officiating. Burial will follow in the Vest Family Cemetery at Streeter. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until time of services on Thursday at the funeral parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Arrangements are by the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors of Hinton.
