Alton Cales

Alton A. "Tater" Cales, 77 of LaGrange, OH, formerly of Hix, WV, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in Elyria, Ohio following a long illness.
Born March 17, 1935 in Hix he was a son of the late Preston Allen and Effie Richmond Cales and stepfather Hobert Williams.
Alton was a US Army veteran and a longtime steelworker retiring with over 30 years of service. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, golf, sports and was an avid WVU fan. He also enjoyed a daily meeting with his retiree friends and taking care of his two beloved dogs Mojo & Yoder.
Preceded in death by his wife, Wilda Bennett Cales in 2001; two brothers, Arlie Cales and Dave Cales; four sisters, Mary Wickline, Elinore Cales, Jan Cooper and Sadie Williams.
Those left to cherish his memory include his two daughters, Linda Schmidt and husband Dave of Wellington, OH and Carla Simmons of LaGrange, OH; two sons, Randy Cales and wife Nelda of Emerald Isle, NC and Brian Cales of LaGrange, OH; six grandchildren, Jason, Brandon, Colton Schmidt, Wesley Simmons, Preston Cales and Kailyn Cales; one sister, Genetta Humphries; three brothers, Alfred Cales, Jerry Cales and Roger Cales.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Sunday September 23, 2012 at Tempa Baptist Church with Pastor Bobby Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the Alderson Family Cemetery at Hix. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 5-8 P.M. on Saturday.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
