Anna McNeer

Anna Mae McNeer, 98, died Thursday, November 14, 2019, at Country View English Meadows Assisted Living, following a lengthy illness. Born February 9, 1921, in Princeton, WV, she lived most of her life in Hinton, WV. Anna Mae worked as a physician’s assistant with her husband until his death in 1981.

She was active in many civic and community affairs. Especially important to her were serving as chairman and Chairman Emeritus of Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital Advisory Council; Hinton Rotary Club, where she was a past president and a Paul Harris Fellow, and Ascension Episcopal Church, where she served as a trustee and a member of the vestry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Buford McNeer; her parents, Henry F. Burrow and Margaret Ellen (Hayes) Burrow; two sisters, E. Marie Burrows and Ruth Willis, and one brother, Fred Burrow. She is survived by her son, Dr. Michael D. McNeer (Debbi) of Forest Hill, WV; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlor from 6 to 8 pm Monday, November 18, and at Ascension Episcopal Church Tuesday, November 19, from noon until 1 pm. The service will begin at 1 pm, followed by burial in Greenbrier Burial Park. Members of Hinton Rotary will serve as pallbearers. Following the burial, a reception will be held at the church.
