Archie Reed

Archie Lanier Reed, 92, of Blacksburg, Va., formerly of Oak Hill and Hinton, W.Va., died Monday, February 28, 2005, at Blacksburg where he had resided for the past four years. Born May 12, 1913, in Hinton, he was a son the late Ace and Sarah Meadows Reed. He resided in Oak Hill from 1951 until moving to Blacksburg in 2000. Mr. Reed was a long time employee of the A&P Tea Company and was a member of the United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Pauline Pearl Meador Reed. Survived by two sons, Phil Reed and his wife Janice of Blacksburg, and Gary Reed and his wife Connie of Woodlands, Texas; four grandchildren, Rick Reed, Kelly Stanley and her husband Joseph, all of Blacksburg; Chris Reed and his wife Megan and Rebecca Reed, all of Houston, Texas; one sister, Faye Crook of Hinton, and one brother, Talmadge Reed of Hinton. Funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 3, 2005 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Revs. Walt Mullins and Kathern Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Burial Park near Hinton. Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. till time of service on Thursday.
