Arnold E. Berry Sr., 90, of Brooks passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Summers Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, following a long illness.
Born October 25, 1923 at Longbottom, he was a son of the late Sampson Schley and the late Viola Ethel Plumley Berry.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his wife of 66 years, Pearl Virginia Richmond Berry; six brothers, Freddie, Julian Harvey, Calvin Seymore, Lewis Brady, Ernest Ralph, and Stanley Ray; and one sister, Goldie Faye Smith.
He was survived by two daughters, Janet Lynn Berry of Brooks and Anita Louise Yancey and husband Timothy of Barnsville, GA; two sons, Arnold E. Berry Jr. of Brooks and Michael Landon Berry and wife Sherry of Oak Hill; two granddaughters, Melissa and Amber; two great grandchildren, Jacob and Elizabeth; three sisters, Ellen Jane Ward of Hix, Ada Mae Ward of Hilldale, and Effie Caroline McKinney of Whitby, WV; five sisters-in-law, Anna Berry, wife of Calvin; Margaret Berry, wife of Ernest; Chrystal Berry, wife of Stanley; Virginia Berry, wife of Julian; and Betty Berry, wife of Louis; and two brothers-in-law, Jennings Richmond of Brooks and Jim Richmond of Ballangee.
Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Monday, March 24, 2014, at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until time of services at the funeral parlors. Burial will follow in the Berry-Adkins Cemetery, Freezeland Mountain. Pallbearers will be Jennings Richmond, Charles Curtis Berry, Brian Adkins, Ernest Smith, and Bill Bo Berry.
