Arthur Thompson, 74, of Pipestem went home to be with the Lord, Saturday November 3, 2012 at the Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Division following a sudden illness.
Born March 25, 1938 at Marfrance, WV he was a son of the late Joe W. and Catherine Hatcher Thompson.
He was formerly a member of River?s Edge Bible Church in Prince George, VA and currently a member of Cooks Chapel Baptist Church in Pipestem. Arthur served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from Allied Chemical Corporation following 30 years of service and enjoyed reading, square dancing, church activities and spending time with family and friends and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Preceding him in death are two brothers, Jack and Joe P. Thompson; two sisters, Frances Hockman and Geneva Meek.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 years, Judy Thompson at home; six children, Chuck Thompson and wife Carman of Hopewell, VA, Sandy Lloyd and husband Garrett of Hopewell, VA, Jackie Thompson and wife Julie of Prince George, VA, Doni Kidder of Peoria, IL, Justin Thompson of Pipestem and Krista Aleshire and husband Paul of Ronceverte; six grandchildren, Daniel Thompson and wife Katie, Mary Kathryn Thompson, Benjamin and Isaac Lloyd and Jacob and Jordan Thompson.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Dallas Peyton officiating. The family requests burial to be private following the services. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday. The family will serve as pallbearers.
