Basil Lewis Basham, 85, of Elk Knob died Friday, December 26, 2014 at Jackie Withrow Hospital in Beckley following a long illness.
Born August 4, 1929 in Ellison he was the son of the late Wesley and Lillie Meador Basham. Basil lived most of his life in Summers Co. where he attended the Ramp Holiness Church and he worked in the strip mining industry until his retirement.
Preceded in death by his wife, Charity Lois Basham and son-in-law, Jerry Gill.
He will be greatly missed by his three daughters, Edna L. Cody and husband Steve of Marie, Anna J. Richmond of Hinton and Greta L. Gill of Elk Knob; five grandchildren, Timothy M. Ward and wife Connie of Hinton, Teresa A. Huffman and husband Patrick of Hilldale, Tommy D. Ward and wife Becky of Beckley, Jason E.L. Gill and wife Jannell of New York, NY and Marcus L.S. Gill and wife Amber Dawn of Parkersburg; eleven great grandchildren, Timothy Ward Jr., Charity Ward, Tyler Ward, Bradley Ward, William Wesley Mann, Dewey Mann III, Jordan Huffman, Andrew Gill, Turner Gill, Joshua Gill and Aaron Gill; one sister, Shelby Hancock of NY and two brothers, Leslie Basham and wife Carol of MD and Charles Basham and wife Gay of TX.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Patricia Cales officiating. Burial will follow in the Basham Family Cemetery at Elk Knob. Friends may call from 11:00 am until service time on Wednesday.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
