Beecher Meadows Jr., 92, died on August 21, 2013 at his Rolling Meadows Farm on Little Bluestone. He was born August 6, 1921 in Hinton, WV to the late Beecher and Mary Lilly Meadows.
He worked at Carnegie Steel in Charleston and was drafted into the military on August 19, 1943. He served in the 9th Army Corps of Engineers until November 21, 1945. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal, the Bronze Star and the World War II Service Medal.
After the military Beecher worked several jobs including farm labor for his nephew David Wallace, the WV Dept. of Highways and his farm on Little Bluestone. He loved farming, hunting, football and his family. He attended Bluestone Baptist Church. Beecher was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Besides his parents, Beecher was preceded in death by his brothers, Darrh, David, Donal, Doan and Finley and sisters, Muriel Beane, Macie Day, Maude Frye, Mamie Lilly, Opal Bennett, Mattie Meador and Pauline Ballard.
Beecher is survived by his wife of 65 years, Erma Crotty Meadows; daughters, Linda Tickle of South Charleston and Mary Newsome and husband Rick of Jumping Branch; a former son in law, Steve Tickle; grandson, Richard Boda Newsome of Jumping Branch; granddaughters, Amy Tickle of South Charleston, Sara Tickle of Blacksburg, VA, Olivia Newsome of Pikeville, KY and Rebecca Newsome of Morgantown; sister in law, Theresia Meadows of Charleston; special neighbors and friends, Wilma Rodes O?Brian, Benny Basham, Jon and Maura Lindbergh and Susie Meadows and four very loved children, Anne and ?Milo? Lindbergh and Claire and Nathan Fox.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Bluestone Baptist Church in Jumping Branch with Pastor Bill Fox officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call Friday from 6-9 P.M. at the Bluestone Baptist Church and one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Honorary pallbearers: Richard T. Newsome, Eddie Rosenquist, Curtis Meador, Donald and Greg Meadows.
