Bernard Bostic

August 29, 1923 — March 1, 2013

Bernard Ross Bostic, 89, of Talcott went home to be with the Lord, Friday March 1, 2013 at the Summers Co. Appalachian Regional Hospital following a sudden illness.
Born August 29, 1923 at Talcott, he was a son of the late William O. and Pauline Saunders Bostic.
Bernard was a member of the Rollynsburg Baptist Church and was retired from the shipping department for Union Carbide in South Charleston with 37 years of service. He proudly served his country during WW II in the U.S. Army in the 505th parachute infantry and 82nd Airborne and served in France, Belgium and Germany.
He participated with many Graham House activities, John Henry Days, placement of the American Flags in Talcott for July 4th, Veterans and Memorial Day holidays and the Talcott Cemetery. Bernard loved gardening, the outdoors, feeding his birds and squirrels, working on automobiles and spending time with his family and friends.
Preceding him in death include an infant son, Bernard Bostic II; son, Norman W. Bostic; three brothers, Ralph ?Gabe? Bostic, Jack Bostic and Howard ?Preach? Bostic and one sister, Florence Mann.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 66 years, Nancy Eades Bostic at home; one daughter, Patricia Bostic Lowers and husband Larry of Houston, TX; two grandchildren, Jeremy Bostic and Brynne Bostic Smiley both of Houston, TX; two sisters, Ruby Bostic Ballengee Gray of NY and Mary Carol Bostic Ward of Marie; three brothers, James ?Jimmy? Bostic of Montgomery, Thomas Bostic and wife Nova of KY and Richard ?Dick? Bostic and wife Betty of Ballengee. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the Rollynsburg Baptist Church with Pastor Dana Stalnaker officiating. Burial will follow in the Talcott Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 until 5:00 PM Monday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel and at the church one hour prior to services. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
