Bernard McCoy, 82, of Hinton went home to be with the Lord Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Princeton Community Hospital following a long illness.
Born September 27, 1927 at Pike County, KY he was a son of the late Christopher Columbus and Effie Hatfield McCoy. A disabled coal miner and member of the UMWA he loved fishing and hunting and he enjoyed camping and fishing in Tennessee. Bernard was of the Pentecostal faith.
Preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Marie N. McCoy and one sister, Olene Mattero.
Those left to cherish his memory include five children, Jerry McCoy and wife Christine of Pineville, Michael McCoy and wife Neva of Delbarton, Bernice Thompson and husband Donald of Taylorsville, NC, Anita Richmond and husband Bernard of Jumping Branch and David McCoy and wife Becky of Columbia, SC; special caregiver, Sherry Cozart and family of Ballard; grandchildren, Jerry Jr. and Pamela McCoy, Jamie, Jennifer and Joseph McCoy, Anthony and Brian Bowling, Josh, Matt and Alisha McCoy, Haleigh, Ellie, Savannah, Braxton, Kailyn and Lydia; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Paul McCoy of TN and Gerald McCoy of IN and one sister, Helen Cole of TX.
Graveside service and burial will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Restwood Memorial Gardens. Friends are asked to gather at the cemetery at 12:30 P.M.
