Betty Frances Burdette, 78, of Hilldale entered into eternal rest Monday, September 15, 2014 at Charleston Area Medical Center General Divison following a sudden accident.
Born April 4, 1936 at Forest Hill, she was the daughter of the late Dorse L. and Ethel Oberlin Thompson.
Betty was a faithful member of Freedom Baptist Church at Powley's Creek. She worked as a homemaker and housekeeper for many people in the community. She was a volunteer for the local Red Cross Blood Drive. Betty was a member of the Summers County ARH Auxillary, having being named "Volunteer of the Year" in 2005. Betty was very dedicated to her family and community by providing transportation for her friends and neighbors to doctor's appointments and greeting staff and patients with a contagious smile and working beyond the hours she was scheduled.
She was preceded in death by her son, Danny Burdette, five brothers, and seven sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Pat Hartwell and Husband Jack, Vickie Lemmon and Husband Vincent, Ronnie Burdette and Wife Karen, and Karen Burdette Dady; Sixteen grandchildren; Twelve great grandchildren; Sisters, Gladys Martin and Thelma Brogan; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Memorial services will be 1:00 PM Friday, September 19, 2014 at Freedom Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Canterbury and Larry Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 AM till time of services Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Summers County ARH Auxillary c/o Ruth Thomas.
