Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
Betty Gail Cales, 64, of Chestnut Mtn. entered into eternal rest Sunday, May 17, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington following a long illness.
Born August 13, 1955 at Trout, WV she was a daughter of the late George A. and Emzie Scott Walton.
Betty was a former housekeeper at Heartland Nursing Home of Rainelle and a former employee of Kirks Restaurant of Hinton. She was a member of Laurel Creek Church of Christ. Betty enjoyed canning, making homemade kraut and applebutter, big country meals, running around with the “mountain sisters”, George Jones, the Smoky Mountains and Myrtle Beach, sitting on her porch with “the crew” and watching True Crimes on the ID channel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Dale Cales; three brothers, Joe Walton, Gene Walton and Justin Walton and two sisters Ruth Cayton and Mamie Defabaugh.
Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Jerry Faron “Pooh Bear” Cales and fiancé Jessica of Crichton; two grandchildren, Glynna and Christian; one sister, Mary Harvey of White Sulphur Springs; mountain sisters, Bonnie, Peggy, Credy, Teresa and Patty. They walked through the world with me. (George Jones)
For the safety of the family and community, services will be private with Speaker Bart Johnson officiating.
