Betty Carol Combs Basham

     Betty Carol Combs Basham, 82, of Jumping Branch, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.

     Born on April 21, 1941 in Crab Orchard, WV to the late Rev. William Cecil Combs and Norma Ball Combs.

     Betty loved spending time with her large family, singing, working puzzles, enjoying the birds, flowers, and wildlife in her yard, and cheering for the WVU Mountaineers. Betty’s professional career was spent in healthcare where she worked as a Podiatric Assistant for Dr. Serdoz and Dr. Taylor in Beckley for nearly 30 years. She had a true servant’s heart always doing for others in her community, her church, and her greatest joy, serving her family.  Betty was a member of the Sophia Freewill Baptist Church and will leave a legacy of strong faith in God and a fierce love for her family.

     Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Basham and her siblings, Sharon Rose Combs, Johnny Combs, Mark Combs, Mary Combs Sisk, Jimmy Kemper Combs and Robert “Bob” Combs.

     She is survived by her children, Kelly Basham Brogan and husband Kenny and Donnie Basham and wife Toni; grandchildren, Keilah Dewitt and husband Chris, Kanyon Brogan and wife MacKenzie and Ashton Basham; great granddaughter, Makynlee Moore; siblings, Billy Combs, Nancy Cook and husband Ed, Norma Bibb, Judy Puckett and husband Jim, Donnie Combs, Dave Combs, Greg Combs and wife Vicki, Scott Combs and wife Carla; sisters in law, Shirley Combs, Frances Kelly and Myrtle Basham; brothers in law, Wayne Sisk and Gary Basham and 36 nieces and nephews, 83 great nieces and nephews and 61 great great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

     A graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, WV where family, friends, and guests are invited to pay their respects.  The graveside service will be followed by a family dinner at Sophia Freewill Baptist Church.
