Betty Lou Lilly Pritchett, 69, of Verona, VA for the past 25 years, formerly of Nimitz, passed away peacefully Monday, March 2, 2009 following an extended illness. Born July 3, 1939 at Nimitz, she was a daughter of the late Lunda L. Lilly and Mary L. Lilly of Nimitz. Betty graduated from Hinton High School Class of 1958 and married her loving husband Wallace in 1961. She was employed by the Target Corporation and the Augusta County School System and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Betty instilled in her children the importance of religious observance and worship. Betty was a dedicated and loving mother, homemaker and grandmother. She was very skilled at sewing, made many Halloween costumes for her children and saved the day for many school projects. Reading to her children at an early age enabled them to have the ability to read prior to their school enrollment. She valued the opportunity to create things for her friends, neighbors, or relatives and often worried if her creations were â??nice enoughâ??, but were always received with great pleasure. Betty gave of herself so that her family and others would receive more. Preceding her in death besides her father is one brother, Donald R. Lilly. Besides her mother, those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Wallace L. Pritchett of Verona, VA; one son, Scott L. Pritchett of Jacksonville, FL; one daughter, Sally A. Medeiros of Verona, VA; one sister, Phyllis L. Comer of Princeton; her niece, Sandy L. Comer of Princeton; a host of other living relatives, her well loved and loving grandchildren, Cameron and Bryce Pritchett of Jacksonville, FL; and her two dear friends, Brenda Mullins and Herthel Chestnut of the Staunton, VA area. Graveside rites and burial will be 11 AM Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the Lilly-Crews Cemetery in Nimitz with Pastor Billy Ballengee officiating. Friends may call at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors from 6-8 PM Wednesday.
