"Bill" John William Whittaker

“Bill” John William Whittaker, 74, of Hinton passed away Monday, March 17, 2025 at Raleigh General Hospital following a long illness.

Born April 22, 1950 at Streeter, WV he was a son of the late Andrew Jackson “Jack” and Ruby Christine Upton Whittaker.

Bill was a retired construction worker who owned his own business. He was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors. Bill was a jack of all trades. He never met a stranger, everyone who knew him loved him.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Susan “Sioux” Whittaker and one brother, Andrew Jackson Whittaker Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory include his three children, William A. Whittaker and wife Meredith, Melissa D. Whittaker and husband Joseph Eldridge and Amanda S. Tyler; five grandchildren, Chase Whittaker and wife Shelby, Jesse Harris and wife Summer, William Whittaker, Samuel Whittaker and Ethan Tyler; three great grandchildren, Kyson, Emmy Lou and Willow and one sister, Margaret Dennett.

Graveside service and burial will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 21, 2025 at the Quesenberry Cemetery with Pastor Danny Harris officiating. There will be no visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery from 12:30 P.M. until time of services on Friday. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
