Bobby Joe Smith

            Bobby Joe Smith, 56, of Hinton went home to be with the Lord Friday May 12, 2023 at CAMC Trauma Center following a short illness.

            Born February 10, 1967 in Hinton he was the son of the late Ernest Samuel Smith Sr. and Goldie Faye Berry Smith.  Bobby Joe worked in construction. He worked for Biggers Brothers while he lived in North Carolina and he also worked for Williams Transport until his health would no longer allow him to.  Bobby Joe was an accomplished artist who enjoyed collecting cars.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.

            Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ernest Clyde and Ella May Rakes Smith; maternal grandparents, Sampson and Viola Plumley Berry; one brother, Daniel Ray Berry; one sister, Elizabeth Ann Vanover; one niece, Elizabeth Faye Berry and two nephews, Shannon Scott Smith and Ricky Lee Smith Jr.

            Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Kristin York of TN; three grandchildren, Bricen Vaughan, Kiley York and Nevaeh Billups; one sister, Juanita Brewington of Hinton; four brothers, William Berry and Barbie of Meadow Creek, Ernest Smith Jr. and Patricia of Hinton, Ricky Smith of Powley’s Creek and Mike Smith and Angie of Hilldale and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a multitude of friends.

            Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday May 20, 2023 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating.  Burial will follow in the Ward Family Cemetery on Chestnut Mountain.  Friends may call from Noon until service time on Saturday at the funeral parlors.

            Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

            He will be loved and missed by many.
