Brenda Willey

Brenda Ruth Kounse Willey, 68, of Pence Springs went home to be with the Lord Sunday, July 12, 2020 at Peyton House following a long illness.

Born October 23, 1951 at Newport News, VA she was a daughter of the late George Malcolm and Janet Shaffer Kounse.

Brenda was a former postmaster relief worker at Pence Springs Post Office, an election worker and a homemaker who took pride in providing love and care for her family.

Brenda was preceded in death by one brother, George Malcolm “Mike” Kounse Jr. ; one half sister, Lois Stokkers; one son in law, Chad Hatcher and one aunt, Nelle Kounse Morgan.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 50 years, David Kenneth Willey; one son, David Mark Willey and wife Renee of Wayside; two daughters, Andrea Willey Hatcher of Eden, NC and Erin Willey Ambler and husband Mike of Pence Springs; eight grandchildren, Katherine Grace Hatcher Carter and husband Shawn, Charlotte Amelia Hatcher, Jacob Bryce Simmons, Nora Claire Hatcher, Malcolm Cole Simmons, Kadence Gwinn, Kodent Gwinn and Tessa Johnson; one brother, Lloyd “Butch” Fox and wife Martha of NC and sister in law, Renee Kounse of Pence Springs.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, July 17, 2020 at the Pence Springs Community Church with Pastor Roger Persinger officiating. Burial will follow in the Haven of Rest Cemetery at Pence Springs. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until time of services. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. For the safety of the family and community precautionary guidelines will be followed.
