Carrington Richmond

July 9, 1925 — December 15, 2014

Carrington Dennis Richmond, 86, of Clayton left his earthly life on December 15, 2014 at the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea, West Virginia after a sudden illness. Mr. Richmond has resided at the Greenbrier Manor in Fairlea since July, 2011. Carrington considered himself to be the family historian and was known to be a "master storyteller".
Born July 9, 1925 at Judson, he was the son of the late Jacob Thomas Richmond and Elizabeth Boone Richmond.
Mr. Richmond lived a full life that was dedicated to his family. Carrington always put family first in everything he did. He loved to farm and spent the majority of his life as a farmer. He worked several years as a farm manager at the WV State Women's Prison in Pence Springs, WV. He served two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Carrington was preceded in death by his parents Jacob Thomas Richmond and Elizabeth Boone Richmond; sisters, Naomi Richmond Martin, Ocie D. Richmond and Gertrude Vera Richmond McKinney; brothers, Harmon D. Richmond, Emmett O. Richmond, Robert J. Richmond, Lloyd L. Richmond, Othar Hobert Richmond, Forest Owen Richmond and Leonard Curtis Richmond. Carrington was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Carrington is survived by three step-sons: Johnny Ellis, wife Jena and daughter Ursula; Michael Ellis, wife Tonya, children Matthew and Jenni; and Victor Ellis; caregivers: (Nephew), Eddie and Nancy Richmond of Lewisburg; nieces Iona "Jinx" Shawver of Mansfield, OH; Ruth Stafford and husband H.C. of East Bank, WV; Roberta Meador of Roanoke, VA; nephew Harold Richmond and wife Ann of Beckley, WV; many great nieces and nephews. He also has an extended special family at the VA Hospital in Beckley and Greenbrier Manor in Fairlea, WV. He deeply loved the residents and staff of both facilities.
The family wishes to give a special "thanks" and recognition to the doctors and staff at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Greenbrier Manor and to Dr. Conni Anderson for their care and compassion.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday December 20, 2014 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Roger Persinger officiating. Burial will follow in the Elk Knob Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 am until services time on Saturday at the funeral parlors.
Mike Falls, Bradley Falls, Dale Hedrick, Steve Humphreys, Richard Hypes, Eric Persinger and Leslie Persinger will serve as pallbearers.
