Charles Michael "Chuckie" Adkins, 57, of Ballard, formerly of Hinton, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, November 17, 2011 at his home following a long illness.
Born July 27, 1954, at Morgantown, he was a son of the late Ed and Juanita Ward Sims.
Chuckie was a logger and construction worker who enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to the flea market, outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Preceded in death by two brothers, Randall Wayne Adkins and Denzil Adkins; one sister, Patty Ward and his maternal grandparents, Okie and Hattie Ward.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Bertie Adkins at home; two sons, Michael L. Adkins and wife Felicia of Florida and Charles Michael Adkins Jr. of Huntington; three daughters, Brandi Adkins of Huntington, Susan May Adkins of Pipestem and Michelle Adkins of Florida; two step-sons, Jessie Daniel Bragg and companion Jenny of Tug Creek and Paul Robert Bragg and wife Dana of Tug Creek; twelve grandchildren; one brother, Frank Adkins of New Mexico; two sisters, Wilma Meadows and husband Ernie of Forest Hill and Deborah Bragg of Tug Creek; two aunts, Pauline Canterbury of Peterstown and Mabel Stoddard of Hinton; special cousin, Johnny Gill and wife Gay of Forest Hill, special friend, Ben Gobel of Bozoo and numerous cousins, nieces, uncles and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2PM Sunday, November 20, 2011 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Upland Cemetery near Hinton. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 6-9PM Saturday.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
