Charles Ratliff

Charles Henry Ratliff Jr., 80, of Madams Creek went home to be with the Lord Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Summers Nursing and Rehab Ctr. following a long illness.
Born March 26, 1931 at Hinton, he was the son of the late Charlie and Jennie Harvey Ratliff of Zion Mtn. Rd.
He was employed by WV Parkways Authority and worked in building the WV Turnpike. He also worked for the Corp. of Engineers in building of the Bluestone Dam and as a maintenance supervisor for the Bluestone State Park.
As a young man he worked as a ferryman across the New River before the dam was constructed.
Charles was a member of Mt. Olivet Church at Madams Creek.
Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Richmond and three brothers, Basil Ratliff, Paul "Buck" Ratliff and Leslie Ratliff.
He is survived by one son, Charles Edward "Eddie" Ratliff and wife Sue of Jumping Branch; three daughters, Virginia "Ginger" Mansfield and husband Richard of Big Creek, Debbie Cox of Madams Creek and Jennie Ratliff Hedrick of Charlotte, NC; eight grandchildren, Charlotte and Andrea Mansfield, Tammy Anthony, Bobby Lee and Audrey Richmond, Josh and Zack Cox and Danny Hedrick; eleven great grandchildren, Trever Richmond, Logan Phillips, Roger, Brandy and Isaiah Cox, Maddix Cox, Austin and Gregory Hedrick, Joseph, Christopher and Isabella Richmond and one brother, Clinton Ratliff of Jumping Branch.
Funeral Services will be held 2PM Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Mt. Olivet Church with Pastor Bill Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens at Hinton. Friends may gather at the Mt. Olivet Dining Hall after services. Friends may call at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors from 6-8PM Tuesday and at the church one hour prior to services.
Serving as pallbearers will be Trever Richmond, Bobby Richmond, Danny Hedrick, Zack Cox, Josh Cox and Cody Burns. Honorary pallbearers are David Reed and Mark Meador.
