Mr. Carrington Spade, 84, of Hinton, went to be with the Lord Friday, October 27, 2006 at a Welch hospital, following a long illness. Born at Hinton on September 7, 1922, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Bertie McGhee Spade. Carrington was on the Cradle Roll at the Central Baptist Church and was a faithful member of the church. He graduated from Hinton High School in 1941 and was an active member of the award winning High School Band. While attending school in Hinton, he found life-long friends which were all very precious to him. Carrington received a scholarship in music but was instead was called by Uncle Sam to serve his country. He joined the Army Air Corp in 1943 where he served as an airplane and engine mechanic and worked on the famed Memphis Belle. While serving his country he received an American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and WWII Victory Metal. Carrington along with his wife Ruth successfully owned and operated the Western Auto and Radio Shack stores in Hinton for more than 30 years. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ruth in 1997. Survived by his daughter, Patty Cochran and husband Ralph of Princeton; one granddaughter, Missy Basham of Princeton and two great grandsons, Chris and Steven also of Princeton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Jeff Beckett officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Burial Park in Hinton. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 6-8 P.M. on Sunday.
