Charles Edward Yancey, 83, of Fairdale went home to be with the Lord March 27, 2015 at Bowers Hospice House following a long illness.
Born January 24, 1932 at Hinton he was the son of the late Homer Elliot and Sara Ann Pack Yancey. A veteran of the Korean Conflict where he proudly served his country in the United States Army, former member of the Trap Hill Volunteer Fire Dept. and he loved spending time in the outdoors fishing.
Preceded in death by his son, Donald Vaughn Yancey; three sisters and four brothers.
Survived by his companion, Kathy Yancey of Fairdale; three daughters, Patricia Gail Wilmoth of Indiana, Candi Linn Chew and husband Paul of Indiana, Dorthea "Dodie" Marie Macy of Indiana; sons, Charles Edward Yancey II of California, Ronald Arlin Walkup of Indiana, Ricky Dale Yancey and wife Shaylyn of Ohio and Justin Lee Yancey and companion Cassandra of West Virginia; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday March 31, 2015 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 am until service time on Tuesday at the funeral parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
