Charley Lewis Moten, 97, of Nimitz went to his heavenly home, Saturday April 9, 2011 at the Bower?s Hospice House in Beckley.
Born Oct. 20, 1913 at Madams Creek, Hinton he was a son of the late Samuel E. and Roxie J. Plumley Moten. Charley was a lifelong resident of Summers and Raleigh counties, a member of the Nimitz Missionary Baptist Church and retired after 35 years of service as a laborer for Slab Fork Coal Company.
Preceded in death by his wife, Roxie Jane Lilly Moten; one daughter, Carolyn Jane Moten; eight brothers, George, Earl, Frank, Code, Bill, Carl, Robert and James Dorsey Moten.
Those left to cherish his memory include; three daughters, Maxine Moten Coyer of Nimitz, Edna Moten Eades and husband Rick of Hinton and Wanda Moten Dillon of Jumping Branch; one son, Charles Moten of Nimitz; three grandchildren, Rebecca Dillon Rine and husband Josh of Charlotte, NC, Richard Eades of Hinton and Christopher Dillon of Jumping Branch; one great grandson, Logan Rine of Charlotte, NC and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the Nimitz Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Phillip Lilly officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimtz. Friends may call from 6-8 PM Monday, April 11, 2011 at the Nimitz Missionary Baptist Church and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Zina Lilly, Bill and Scott Hatcher, Christopher Dillon, Richard Eades, Dick Stanley, Richard Maddy and David Moten.
