Daphna Hedrick Rogers, 94, of 704 Temple St., Hinton, died 7:17 A.M. Monday, August 21, 2006 at the Pine Lodge Care Home at Beckley, following a long illness. Born May 4, 1912 at Mt. View, Summers Co. she was the daughter of the late Allen W. and Maude Richardson Hedrick. Mrs. Rogers was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Hinton where she was active for over 55 years in the Joy Class, United Methodist Women and Circle #4. She was a former member of the Hinton Womens Club, the Delphi Club, United Daughters of the Confederacy #1559 and the Ladies Society, Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen, New River Lodge #412. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest E. â??Shineâ?? Rogers in 1984, two brothers, Willard Hedrick in 1988 and Fred Hedrick in 2006, and a sister, Thelma Gunter in 2004. She is survived by a daughter, Paula Susan Steele, of Hinton and Tulsa, OK, three grandchildren, Roger B. Steele and his wife Donna of Broken Arrow, OK, Thomas A. Steele and his wife Laura of Tulsa, OK, and Susan Steele of San Antonio, TX, three great grandchildren, Logan and Taylor Steele of Tulsa, OK and Derek Ellis Steele of San Antonio, TX, four nieces, Lois Price, Mary Bailey and Carole Preston all of Beckley and Joyce Wickline of Chesapeake, VA. Funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 24, 2006 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Price and Pastor Rick Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park at Beckley. Friends may call from noon till time of the service on Thursday. Roger B. Steele, Thomas A. Steele, Richard A. Steele, Halbert D. Price II, Halbert D. Price III and David Bailey will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the First United Methodist Church.
