David Ray Hicks, 58 of Alderson died Wednesday, December 23, 2009 in Gauley Bridge.
Born June 24, 1951 in Summers County he was the son of the late Herbert and Virginia Williams Hicks. A veteran of the United States Army he served his country during the Vietnam War, was a member of the Hinton Gospel Tabernacle, an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, was able to play several stringed instruments and especially enjoyed playing bluegrass and gospel music.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Danita Hicks.
He is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Hicks Johnson and husband Michael of Morgantown and Susan Hicks Berry of White Sulphur Springs; three grandchildren, Casey, Shelby and Whitney Johnson all of Morgantown; two brothers, Claude Hicks and wife Sylvia of Union, SC and Rodger Hicks and wife Linda of Indian Mills; two sisters, Patsy Chatterton and Janice Schearer both of Forest Hill and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Lawrence Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Tempa Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until time of services on Wednesday.
Michael Johnson, Casey Johnson, Thomas Bennett, Amos Hicks, Joey Smith and Leslie Berry will serve as pallbearers.
