David Charles Hutchens, 64, of Ballengee formerly of Beckley, passed away July 29, 2014 at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness.
Mr. Hutchens was born January 4, 1950, a son of the late Melvin Hutchens and Ethel Covey Hutchens.
He was a member of Calloway Heights Baptist Church and had most recently attended War Ridge Freewill Baptist Church and was also a member of the Ballengee Neighborhood Association, the Farm Club and the CERT Team of Ballengee. Mr. Hutchens was a professional driver, having driven a charter bus for several years with Abbott Trailways in Roanoke, VA and retiring from Land Air Transport.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Hutchens Jr. and William Hutchens; four sisters, Geraldine Hutchens, Violet Shelor, Norma Jean Cooper and Carolyn Short and a daughter, Michelle Hutchens.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Brenda Hutchens; daughters, Trisha Yonakura and husband Jim of Japan and Amanda Worthington and husband Andy of Oak Hill; step daughters, Brandy Cline and companion Gene Peaytt of Galiborts, SC and Kim Miller and companion Terry Simmons of Mount Airy, NC; step son, Bucky Miller of Beckley; fourteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister, Mary Crum and husband Don of Beckley and brother, Richard Hutchens.
Memorial services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, August 1, 2014 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Minister Bill Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Ballengee. Friends may call from noon until time of services Friday at the funeral parlors.
In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to the charity of one's choice.
