David Gary Rodes, 56, formerly of Hinton, died Thursday, July 27, 2007 after a short illness; at the home of his sister. Born January 13, 1951, at Hinton, he was a son of the late Gelvin Knapp and Doris Jean Bishop Rodes and he had lived most of his life in the Bellepoint and Brooks area of Summers Co. David was a graduate of Hinton High School and attended Beckley and Concord College. He was currently employed by the Lawrence Corp. at Fincastle, VA as a shipping clerk. Former salesman for Peerless Packing Co. of Daniels, and Buzz Foods in Charleston for a total of 27 years and he was of the Methodist Faith and an avid fisherman. Survived by two children, a daughter, Shannon Raye Rodes-Kessler, of North Myrtle Beach, SC and a son, David Austin Rodes and wife, Dawn Katz Rodes, of Charleston, SC; three grandchildren, Nathanial Gelvin Kessler, Lillyan M. Dove-Kessler and Abigail Anne Rodes. Also surviving is a sister, Ellen Ann Rodes Wills and husband Billy Ray Wills, of Fincastle, VA. Graveside service will be held Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 11:00 A.M., at the Restwood Memorial Gardens at Madams Creek, with Tom Pack officiating.
