A life well lived.
Our beloved Delores Jean Ferrell went home to God on August 4, 2018 after years of suffering with illness.
She was born into a German farm family in northern Indiana on February 9 of 1927. They weathered the depression and World War II with dignity despite their humble situation. She was the devoted wife for 59 years of James "Jim" Edward Ferrell. She and Jim had a close marriage and wonderful life that took them many places. She managed well the years that Jim was away working for General Electric, suffering one of three miscarriages during that time. She had one son, James Ashley Ferrell, who lives in Huntsville, Alabama with his lovely wife Cynthia and wonderful children Clara and Gabe.
Delores was active in her church and community volunteering and helping in many ways. She was known for an amazing smile and the ability to make friends easily wherever she went. She loves God, her family, and all things English.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Henrietta (Borck) Lemper of Auburn Indiana, and her siblings Helen, Herman, Flawrence, Lucille, Howard, Bernard, and Wilbur.
Visitation was held at her son and daughter-in-law's home on Wednesday. Graveside service and burial is planned for 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 11, 2018 in Forest Hill West Virginia, at the ancestral home of her husband's family, in the Ferrell Cemetery. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery from 10:30 A.M. until time of the services Saturday. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Shriners Hospitals.
