Delsie Brown

2 Timothy 4:7 – I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Delsie Marie Brown, 65, of Hinton was called to her heavenly home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at home following a long illness.

Born January 15, 1956 in Hinton she was the daughter of Nelson Gill of Hinton and the late Patsy Adkins Gill.

Delsie was a LPN as long as her health permitted. She was of the Christian faith and a member of the Church of Christ. Delsie loved reading her Bible, flowers of all kinds, gardening, collecting family photos, shopping, hunting muggins, Pepsi, her sweets and going to yard sales. She never met a stranger and would have given the shirt off her back to help someone in need. Delsie felt that her greatest accomplishment in life was her loving husband of 44 years, her children, grandchildren and her great grandson.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ricky Adkins and David Gill and one sister, Bertie Adkins.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 44 years, Alonzo Brown; two daughters, Cindy Basham and husband Roy of Hinton and Lisa Pitzer and husband Charles (PeeWee) of Hinton; one son, Robbie Brown of Elk Knob and Valerie Wickline of Hinton; one brother, Roy Adkins and wife Ruth of Hinton; two sisters, Penny Boone and husband Ray and Brenda Moats of Waynesboro, VA; twenty grandchildren, Kelli Ward and husband Zach, Derek, Josh, Tyler, Lindsay, Kaleigh, Gabby, Abby, Kelsie, Brooke and Brandon Pitzer, Bobbi-Jean, Lexi, Maddi, Avaree (Turtle), Jace, and Bentley (Ben) Brown, Dakota and Lauren Basham and Ember Marcum; one great grandson, Hudson Rhett Ward; two special nephews, Kevin Adkins and Keith Gill; two special nieces, Kristi Burton and Tonya Crawford; Stacey Pitzer, whom she thought of as a daughter and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Upland Cemetery near Hinton. There will be a walk through visitation Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.

PeeWee, Derek, Josh and Tyler Pitzer, Roy Basham, Little Roy Adkins and Keith Gill will serve as pallbearers.
