Denver Paul Hicks, 64, of Hinton died Monday, September 20, 2010 at his home following a sudden illness.
Born October 19, 1945 in Summers Co. he was the son of the late Luther and Maudie Gill Hicks. A member of the Upland Baptist Church, lately he had attended the Friendship Baptist Church, served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, retired employee for Greenbrier Nursery, enjoyed tinkering with all types of machinery and he was always ready to help his friends and neighbors whenever there was a need.
Preceded in death by his wife, Freda Hicks in 1998; two sons, Gary Shawn Hicks in 1979 and Jonathan Arnett Hicks in 2000; one brother, Jesse "Curly" Hicks and one sister, Virginia Elizabeth Hicks.
Those left to cherish his memory include one son, David Hicks and wife Velma of Talcott; two grandchildren, Kacey and Caleb Hicks of Talcott; two brothers, Lloyd Hicks of Hinton and Darrell Hicks of Columbus, OH; two sisters, Ruth Fleshman of Green Sulphur Springs and Ethel Dicus of KY and several nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 23, 2010 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Benny Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Upland Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until time of service on Thursday.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
