Dewey Edward Adkins, 74, of Talcott went home to be with the Lord, Friday June 15, 2012 at the Summers Nursing and Rehab Center following a long illness.
Born January 3, 1938 at Talcott, he was a son of the late Ote Ashby and Bernice Garten Adkins.
Dewey was a born again Christian that served his country proudly in the United States Army. He enjoyed working on cars, gardening, and extended his care for children by giving them a piece of candy with a smile while working at Dillon?s Superette for 22 years.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his niece, Lisa Ann Lusk.
Those left to cherish his memory include; two sisters, Delma Fleshman and husband Bill of Talcott and Jaunita Lusk and husband Buddy of Talcott; nephews and nieces, Delma Coleen Sawyer and husband Russ, Debby Lynn Fasciana and husband Angelo, Stanley Paul Fleshman and wife Lori, Dale Patrick Fleshman and wife Kathy, Joyce Marie Ward and husband Jimmy, Pastor Harold Rex Lusk and wife Carol and Kendra Kennette Ratliff and husband Jackie; great nieces and nephews, Rustin Sawyer and wife Kelly, Justin Sawyer and fiancé Jenny Hiatt, and Hannah Sawyer, Austin and Patrick Fasciana, Josiah, Janae and Jobeth Fleshman, Benjamin Rex Lusk and fiancé Caytlin Holzworth, Caleb Joseph Lusk and wife Katie and Isabella Faith Lusk, Jackie Ratliff Jr., Kristen Brooke and Luke Matthew Ratliff; great great nieces and nephews, Hope and Daniel Sawyer , Silas Freeman Lusk and Andrew Holzworth.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Harold Rex Lusk, Pastor Dana Stalnaker and Dale Fleshman officiating. Burial will follow in the Elk Knob Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
