Dewey J. Lilly, 85, of Hilldale passed away Monday, May 21, 2012 at the Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.
Born January 16, 1927 at Pipestem, son of the late William C. and Grace
Pack Lilly. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by infant son Edwin
Ray Lilly, brother Herbert Lilly, and infant sister, Mamie Violet Lilly.
Dewey retired from the auto industry in Toledo, Ohio in 1989 returning to West Virginia to the farming community that he loved. He spent his retirement years helping others especially with farming. Many times helping people who were stranded on the road. He was highly thought of in his neighborhood for his
hard work and kind acts. He will be missed by his family and friends. He was especially proud of having been a member of the Monroe Masonic Lodge #77 for over 50 years. Member of the UAW in Toledo. Ohio.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris Walthall Lilly of Hilldale
three son, Dana Lilly of Ohio; Melvin Lilly and wife Patty of Ohio; William
C ?Bill? Lilly and wife Michelle of Kansas; three daughters, Linda Kirn and
husband Bob of Michigan; Brenda Martin of Hilldale; Sue Zimmerman of Maryland; 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren. one brother, Denver
Lilly and wife Nola of Virginia; one sister, Ina Gwinn and husband Russell
of Marie; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Lilly of VA.
Funeral services 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Paul Broyles officiating. Burial will follow
in the New Hope Cemetery at Marie. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday.
