Donald Meadows, 91, of Madams Creek went home to be with the Lord Saturday July 4, 2015 at his home following a long illness.
Born February 23, 1924 at Madams Creek he was the son of the late Thomas N. and Laura E. Young Meadows. A United States Army Veteran of World War II having served his country in Normandy where he received a purple heart during battle. A construction worker, timberman, farmer, miner who was of the Christian faith and enjoyed working on his farm and spending time with his family, friends and grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Preceded in death by one son, David N. Meadows; four brothers, Basil, Roy, Calma and Arlie Meadows and two sisters, Ivous Bennett and Jean Hoenig.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 64 years, Melba Hogan Meadows of Madams Creek; two sons, Darrell Meadows of Pipestem and Danny Meadows of Speedway; three daughters, Garnet Meadows of Arizona, Ruby Wade and husband Doug of Meadow Bridge and Susan Basham and husband Roy of Jumping Branch; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, one brother-in-law, Bill Hoenig of MD and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Meadows Family Cemetery at Madams Creek where graveside military rites will be held. Friends may call from noon until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral parlors.
Donnie L. Meadows, Donnie D. Meadows, Ronnie Meadows, Doug Wade, Robert Wills and Brian Young will serve as pallbearers.
