Doretha â??Reaâ?? Smith Patterson, 52, of Beckley formerly of Hinton, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Raleigh General Hospital following a short illness. Born October 28, 1956 at Hinton she was a daughter of the late Lewis D. and Geneva Smith of Hinton. A lifelong resident of Summers County, she was a former beautician who loved caring for the elderly and children, a loving mother and devoted grandmother who enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. Doretha was of the Baptist faith. She especially enjoyed spending time at the beach. Preceded in death by her first husband, Lonnie Patterson; two sisters, Verna Mae and Doris and one brother, Lee. Survived by her companion, Reggie Turner of Beckley; one son, Lamont Smith and wife Gena of Jumping Branch, two daughters, Keta Norris and husband Joe and Andrea Patterson both of Beckley; six grandchildren, T.J. Smith, Brandon and Damaray Patterson, Aâ??joenae Norris, Imani and Brooklyn Patterson; five brothers, Lewis, Billy, Floyd, Herbert and Tracy; three sisters, Phyllis â??Jeanâ??, Rebecca â??Sueâ?? and Linda and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Elder William Catus officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call from Noon until service time on Tuesday. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
