Doris L. Walthall Lilly, 88, of Hilldale went home to be with the Lord Saturday July 27, 2019 at Bowers Hospice House following a long illness.
Born August 20, 1930 at Muddy Creek Mountain she was the daughter of the late Macil Glen and Erma Laura McCallister Walthall. She was baptized as a teen in the Greenbrier river and was a member of the Flint Chapel Baptist Church. In the 1950's she moved her church membership to the New Hope United Methodist Church where she was active in the Women's Circle for many years. A member of the Eastern Star where she was active so long as her health permitted. A graduate of Bluefield College and she worked for Toledo Technologies until her retirement in 1992 when she returned to West Virginia. Doris enjoyed farming, gardening, sewing, watching wildlife and spending time with family and friends.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Dewey J. Lilly; one son, Edwin Ray Lilly; one grandson, Paul Martin and two sisters, Lois Roles and Anna Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory include five children, Dana Lilly of Delta, OH, Linda Kirn and husband Bob of Garden City, MI, Brenda Martin of Hilldale, Melvin Lilly and wife Patty of Swanton, OH and William Lilly and wife Michelle of Salina, KS; twelve grandchildren, several great grandchildren whom she loved dearly; two sisters, Norene Pence of Alderson and Faye Hancock of Wolf Creek; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a special caregiver, Doris Holley.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Monday July 29, 2019 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Paul Broyles officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery at Marie. Friends may call from 11:00 am until service time on Monday at the funeral parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers donations of sympathy may be made to the Bowers Hospice House at 454 Cranberry Drive Beckley, WV 25801.
