Dorothy Frances Christian Strattis, 78, of Pipestem passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011 in the Summers Co. Appalachian Regional Hospital, following a short illness.
Born August 9, 1932 at North Fork, WV she was a daughter of the late Franklin Verlin and Naomi Zora Elizabeth Parsons Christian.
She was a member of the Pipestem Southern Baptist Church, a homemaker, member of the Pipestem Ruritan Club serving as vice president and enjoyed quilting, sewing and spending time with her family and friends.
Preceding her in death include her husband, Billy Ray Strattis; one son, Billy Ray Strattis Jr.; one sister, Gladys Puckett and four brothers, Henry V. Christian, Virgil Christian, George Christian and James ?Sonny? Christian.
Those left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Judy Payne and husband Freddie of Tazewell, VA, Jennifer May and husband Ron Daniel of Pipestem and Katie Mullins and husband Calvin of Pipestem; one son, Nick Strattis and wife Susan of Pipestem; four grandchildren, Katherine Mullins, Edward May, Sarah Fuller and Carie Payne; five great grandchildren, Tessa May, Cody Fuller, Caden Fuller, Caleb Fuller and Carlei Kenney; one brother, Bud W. Christian of Big Sandy, WV; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Onita ?Cookie? Taylor.
Funeral services will be 1 PM Thursday, June 16, 2011 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Roy Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Strattis Family Cemetery at Pipestem. Friends may call at the funeral parlor from noon until time of service on Thursday. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
