Edith Eckle Coffman, 94, of Beckley, formerly of Hinton, passed away at a Beckley Care Center, Thursday, July 28, 2005, following a long illness. Born March 22, 1911 at Sandstone, she was a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Celia Hanshaw Eckle. Mrs. Coffman attended school at Sandstone and was the 1st woman school bus driver, during WWII, while there was a shortage of men. She was a member of the Lick Creek Baptist Church and was a homemaker and mother. Preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Coffman, a son-in-law, David Farris, five brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Coffman was the last member of her immediate family. Survived by one daughter, Mrs. David (Celia) Farris of Beckley, two sons; Steve Coffman and wife Edith of Jumping Branch and Paul Coffman and wife Phyllis of Madams Creek, Hinton, three grandsons; Stewart Coffman and wife Trisha of Beaver, Keith Coffman of Beckley and Cody Coffman of Hinton, two granddaughters; Catherine Sexton of Beckley and Kristen Boothe and husband Dan of Beaver and four great grandsons; Travis, Alex, Hunter and Miles. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Bill Fox officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Burial Park at Hinton. Friends may call at the funeral parlor from 1:00 P.M. Saturday until funeral time. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
