Edith V. Williams, 78, of Elk Knob died 10:45 A.M. Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at the Heartland of Beckley following a long illness. Born November 18, 1930 at Ramp, she was a daughter of the late Walter A. and Nannie Harr Martin. A lifelong resident of Summers Co. she was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking meals for her family and friends. Faithful member of the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church while her health permitted. Preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ira Williams; four brothers, Charles, Leslie, Johnny and Verna Lee Martin; four sisters, Dorothy Grimmett, Myrtle Smith, Leatha Bowles and Ethel Martin. Survived by three sons, Denvil Williams of Shady Spring, Dennis Williams and wife Evelyn of Jumping Branch and David Williams of Hix; two daughters, Dora Via and husband Charles of Pearisburg, VA and Drema Smith and husband Tommy of Wagener, SC; thirteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one sister, Charlene Adkins of Hinton. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Benny Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Williams-Richmond Cemetery at Tempa. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. on Friday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
