Edna F. Iddings, 98, of Hinton went home to be with the Lord, Friday May 22, 2020 at the Peyton House in Lewisburg following a short illness.
Born September 5, 1921 in Peterstown, she was a daughter of the late William Henry and Pearl Thornton Falls.
Edna was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Richmond, VA where she served as the church secretary and in recent years attended the Church of the Living God at Madams Creek in Hinton. She aspired to participate during World War II and became a First Class Machinist, building airplane parts for her country as a civilian. Edna was a co-founder of the Braille Circulating Library and was a former legal secretary in Richmond, VA. At the age of 94 Edna learned the art of camping, she also enjoyed being the “grandma” of the Family and Friends Soup Kitchen and enjoyed participating in all church activities.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe M. Iddings; one son, Marvin Lee Iddings; four brothers, Junior, Clyde, Oren and Stanford Falls and one sister, Myrtle Hawks.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Ron Iddings and wife Linda of Hinton; three grandchildren, Robert W. Iddings, Monroe W. Church and Tina M. Foster; four great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one sister, Bernice Safritt of VA and numerous nephews and nieces whom she loved dearly.
For the safety of the family and community, services will be private. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations of sympathy be made to the Family and Friends Soup Kitchen owned and operated by Ron Iddings. Donations may be made payable to POCM at 467 Baker Hill Road Ballard, WV 24918.
