Edward T. Lilly, 86, of Nimitz, died 6:15 P.M. Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness. Born August 29, 1921 at Hinton, he was a son of the late Cecil C. Lilly and Mabel Lilly Lilly Lazio. Edward had lived most of his life at Nimitz and in Florida, was a graduate of the Huntington Business College and attended Yale University as an Air Cadet, retired sales representative with Norfolk and Southern Railroad. An Army Air Corp. veteran who served his country during World War II, avid sports fan who loved to golf and helped bring water skiing to Bluestone Lake, a member of the Hinton Elks Lodge and a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Preceded in death by one brother, Tommy Joe Lilly; one sister, Betty June Hatcher and one great-grandson, Riley Humphries. Survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Belle Vest Lilly of Nimitz; two sons, Dr. Edward R. Lilly of Hinton and Alan C. Lilly of Hilldale; three grandchildren, Edward R. Lilly II and wife Jill of Marie, Tiffany Lynn Marie Lilly of Bluewell and Michelle Nicole Humphries and husband Adam of Culloden; six great-grandchildren, Christian, Melody, Brice, Kylie, Elizabeth and Pierce; and one sister, Patty Wilson of Hinton. Graveside service and burial will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 11, 2008 at the William Vest Cemetery at Streeter with Elder David Bailey officiating. Friends may call from noon until 1:30 P.M. Friday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors of Hinton. Nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers.
