Edward L. "Jake" Thomas, 57, of Hilldale, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at his home following a long illness.
Born July 17, 1954 at Hinton, he was a son of the late Helen Thomas.
Jake was formerly employed by Anderson Block as a truck driver. He was a loving father, grandfather and companion who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Besides his mother he is preceded in death by one sister, Robin Gooch and his maternal grandparents, Bill and Ilene Bragg Thomas.
Those left to cherish his memory include his companion of 36 years, Cathy Adkins of Hilldale; two daughters, Melissa "Missy" Adkins and special son-in-law Jack White of Hix Mtn., Sherry Thomas and companion Billy Trivett of Hinton; one son, Joey Thomas of Hinton; four granddaughters, Tara Holland whom was very close to him, Riley and Robin Graham and Brittany Lilly; two grandsons, Jacob and Kaleb Graham; one brother, Jamie Gooch of Princeton; two sisters, Connie Northern and husband Dan of Hinton and Susan Christian of FL; several nieces and nephews and one great niece. Jake is also survived his special pet Tizzie and five granddogs, Midnight, Puppy, Bud, Sadie and Ivory.
Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Sunday, September 4, 2011 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Rev. Ray Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Esquire Cemetery near Hinton. Friends may call from 6-8:00PM Saturday at the funeral parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
