Erastus ?Rassie? Lilly, 77, of Nimitz, died Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.
Born July 11, 1934, at Ellison, he was a son of the late Caesar and Georgia Ellison Lilly.
Rassie was a member of Ghent Baptist Church who loved studying his bible, writing commentaries and spending time with his family and friends. He was a 1955 graduate of Moody Bible Institute. He later graduated from Wheaton College in 1958 and obtained his masters in Graduate Theology in 1960.
Preceded in death by seven brothers, Boone, Woodrow, Carlisle, Tom, Julius, Stewart and Jim Bob Lilly and four sisters, Chloa Lilly Shuck, Thressie M. Amick, Geneva Bolen and Irene Lilly.
Survived by two sons, Alan Lilly and wife Cassandra of Victorville, CA and Mark Lilly of Oak Hill; two granddaughters, Miriam Lilly and Tabitha Lilly Brown and husband Jonathan; one sister, Loretta ?Rita? Harvey of Nimitz and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00PM Wednesday, January 4, 2011 at the Ghent Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Walls officiating. Friends may call at the church from noon until time of services on Wednesday.
