Erma Ward

Erma Maydell Ward, 78, of Sandstone WV died Thursday January 20, 2011 at the Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Hilldale following a long illness.
Born September 7, 1932 at Sandstone she is the daughter of the late Jesse S. and Merle Jane Fox Johnson. Maydell was lifelong member of the Laurel Creek Baptist Church and a retired cook for the Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital. Maydell had a passion her family that extended to her friends. She enjoyed family functions including the Ward Reunion and the Sandstone All ? Class Reunion. Reminiscing about old times with her lifelong friends and treating everyone equal were traits she instilled in the many lives she touched. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family and will be greatly missed by all that loved her.
Preceding her in death are her first husband Oscar (Bob) Bragg and her second husband Stanley Ward; one brother Pastor Eddie Johnson and a special uncle Frank Johnson.
She is survived by her children; Linda Pack and husband Harold of Phoenix, AZ, Jessica Drake of Sandstone, James Bragg of Sandstone, Stanley Ward and wife Christine of Pipestem and Roger Ward and wife Mattie of Forest, VA, 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren also survive. Special niece; Diana Price of Hinton and a special nephew Mark Ward of Sandstone, a special sister in law Betty M. (Blondie) Johnson of Hinton, beloved pets Buddy an Abraham.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday January 23, 2011 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlor Chapel with Pastors Melvin Wills and Wanda Gwinn officiating. Burial will follow in the King Cemetery at Sandstone. Friends may call from noon till time of service on Sunday. Men of the Laurel Creek Baptist Church will service as pallbearers.
