Ernest Clyde "Chris" Smith, 57, of Tug Creek, Hinton, WV, went home to be with the Lord and re-united with his wife Rosie Friday, January 27, 2017at Raleigh General Hospital, following a short illness.
Born December 25, 1959 at Elkton, Maryland, he was the son of the late Billy Joe Sr. and Virginia Helen Ayers Smith.
He was a member of the Summers County Volunteer Fire Department Station 13, a US Mail Carrier in the Lerona area for 20 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting knives, guns, and spending time with family and friends. Chris never knew a stranger and his friends affectionately called him "Pooh Bear".
Preceded in death by his wife, Roseanna Cyrus Smith; two sisters, Patricia Ann Smith and Sally Faye Smith Adkins.
Those left to cherish his memory include his two sons, Jonathon Wade Smith and wife Brandy of Oak Hill, and Christopher Deke Smith and fiancé Beverly Ward of Hinton; one daughter, Katrina Shannon Cales of Hinton; ten grandchildren and two sisters, Sandra Kay Anderson and husband Blaine of WA and Jo Ann Smith of Forest Hill; one brother, Billy Joe Smith Jr. of Hinton; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith-Cyrus Cemetery at Tug Creek. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral parlors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
