Evelyn L. Adkins, 69, of Hinton went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, September 02, 2010 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born September 17, 1940 at Hinton she was the daughter of the late Samuel E. and Mintie J. Adkins Gill. Evelyn attended the New Hope Church of the Nazarene while her health permitted, was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Preceded in death by her husband, John Samuel Adkins and one sister, Cynthia Harvey.
Those left to cherish her memory include, one daughter, Sonya Weikle and husband David of Hinton; two sons, Johnny L. Adkins and wife Helen of Hinton and John S. Adkins and his son Logan Samuel Adkins of Hinton; two grandchildren, Jason Persinger of Hinton and Anegell Adkins of Hinton; one great grandchild, Carly Persinger of Hinton; two sisters, Goldie Ross of Huntington and Norma J. Gill of Hinton and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, September 3, 2010 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastors Eddie Crews and Jerry Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Breen Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until service time on Friday.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
