Evelyn Currence

Evelyn Marie Currence, 86, formerly of Pipestem, earned her voice on Sunday, March 13, 2022 and is now singing with the angels.

Born July 20, 1935 at Lerona she was a daughter of the late James Clarence “Buster” and Margie Odell Keaton Lilly.

Evelyn was a member of the Lerona United Methodist Church, a housewife and enjoyed activities with her ceramics club, quilting, sewing, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Walter “Bob” Currence; two brothers, Larry and Gary Lilly and two sisters, Janet Johnson and Garnette Lilly.

Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Penelope Currence Dennis and husband Wayne of Boca Raton, FL, Karen Currence of Lexington, KY and Tricia Long and husband Jamie of Ashburn, VA; three grandchildren, Jacob, Seth and Luke Long; five sisters, Edith Weatherford, Elizabeth Lyons and husband Jerry, Mona Hammel and husband Gayle, Samantha Lilly and husband Tommy, and Freda Grossman and husband Tom; two brothers, James Damon Lilly and wife Janet, and Darrell Lilly and wife Etta Sue.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 19, 2022 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Chip Frame officiating.  Burial will follow in the Knob Cemetery in Pipestem.  Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral parlors. Kevin, Bobby, Keith, Simon, and Jeff Lilly, Jamie and Harold Johnson, Jimmy, Kenny and Robbie Keaton will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers please make donations of sympathy to the Dementia Society of America in memory of Evelyn Currence at dementiasociety.org.
