Fred Houchins

Fred L. Houchins, 67 of Pipestem went home to be with his family in heaven, Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at his home following a long illness.
Born December 2, 1942 at Pipestem he was the son of the late Roy J. and Frances G. Kirk Houchins. He was a man dedicated to his work and community which he served through his general contracting business which included new home construction, roofing and painting, attended Pipestem Southern Baptist Church, his pride and joy was the family farm which he loved taking care of, enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
Preceded in death by one daughter, Cheryl R. Houchins; one brother, John Q. Houchins Sr. and one sister, Bonnie Houchins Benninghove.
Survived by his best friend, June and ?the little one? Elishia; three sons, Fred Houchins II who goes by ?Fred Fred? and Stephanie of Liberty, NC, Derek Houchins and wife Melanie of Randleman, NC and Brandon Houchins and wife Lisa of Asheboro, NC; four step-sons, Earl, Joseph, Kevin and Keith Patrick; seventeen grandchildren with one more on the way, two great grandchildren, one brother, Leslie Wayne Houchins; four sisters, Carol Houchins Bolling, Judy Houchins Hurst, Mildred Houchins Jennings and Betty Houchins Foster and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 20, 2010 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Roy Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Houchins Family Cemetery at Pipestem. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
