Freda Krise

Freda Mae Pettry Krise, 85, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend died April 8, 2014 in Suffolk. Born on Aug. 30, 1928 in Beaver, W. Va., she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, George E. "Speedy" Krise and parents, Fred and Cora Mae Pettry. She was a member of Brent Lox Baptist Church in Chesapeake, where her ministry was the church kitchen and vacation bible school. Prior to moving to Virginia, she lived in Akron, Ohio and for many years worked for the M. O'Neil Co., managing the Oak Grille and Georgian West Restaurants.
Survivors include three daughters, Georgia Gardner and husband Jim of Akron, Donna Sue Kilpatrick and husband Leo of Suffolk, and Carolyn Burrowbridge of Birmingham, AL; one son, Ed Krise and wife Ruth of Akron; three sisters, Margaret Reid and husband Ned of Chesapeake, Mary Ruth "Peggy" Turner of Knoxville, TN, and Martha Butts of Chesapeake; one brother, Robert Pettry and wife Sandra of Chesapeake; 10 grandchildren, Melody Parris, Jim Gardner, Lisa Christenbury, Keri Eddins, Christi Orvis, Jim Burrowbridge, John Gardner, Marlena Heindel, Stephanie Krise, and Jenelle Gruesen; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and loyal friends. She loved them all dearly.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 11, at 11 a.m. in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, Suffolk, by the Rev. Steve Bingham. The family will receive friends at the funeral home an hour before the service. Graveside service and burial will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Restwood Memorial Gardens with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Family and friends are asked to gather at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors in Hinton, WV at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, prior to departing for the cemetery.
