Gary Deeds

Gary Marvin Deeds, 71, of Jumping Branch went home to be with the Lord Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a short illness.
Born July 31, 1944 at Hinton he was a son of the late Thomas Marvin Deeds and Opal Eagle Deeds Pack
Gary was a member of Bluestone Baptist Church. He graduated from Hinton High School in 1962 and went on to obtain a degree in Industrial Arts from WV Institute of Technology. Gary was a former teacher for the Raleigh County Board of Education. During the 1970's he was a Chairman on the Democratic Executive Committee. He was the owner and operator of Deeds Dairy Farm at Jumping Branch from 1972-2006 as one of the premier dairy farms in West Virginia tending to nearly 1,000 head of dairy cattle. In 1979, Gary and his family received the West Virginia Outstanding Farm Family Award. In 1992, he was awarded Master Farmer. Gary was on the Southern States Cooperative Board of Directors for several years and was also a member of the Board of Directors for Farmers Home Insurance.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Thomas Kenton Deeds, Joe Alvis Deeds, Dee Russie Deeds and Kyle Deeds; two sisters, Josephine Deeds and Wanda Deeds Allred.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 50 years, Janice Harvey Deeds at home; one daughter, Susann Lynn Deeds of Jumping Branch; two sons, Vincent Deeds and wife Michelle of Renick and Wellington Deeds and wife Lisa of Jumping Branch; two grandsons, Justin and Tristan Deeds of Renick; one granddaughter, Haley D. Deeds of Jumping Branch; one sister, Retha Griffith of Winslow, AK and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Bluestone Baptist Church with Pastors Bill Fox and Vincent Deeds officiating. Burial will follow in the Deeds Family Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Monday at the church.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
