Gary Michael Hellems, 64, formerly of Hinton residing at Forest Hill passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013.
Born June 7, 1949 in Kanawha Co. he was the son of the late James H. ?Buck? and Grace Perkins Hellems.
Mike was a former employee of Sterling Smokeless where he worked as a coal mine surveyor. He later retired as an officer of the WV Public Service Commision. Mike was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory include one son, Keith Hellems and wife Debra of Ripley; one daughter, Rebecca Hellems of Blacksburg, VA; five granddaughters, Eden Hellems of Ripley, Shayanne Hellems of Forest Hill, Kylie Cyrus of Princeton, and Hannah and Dayton Lemon of Blacksburg, VA; two grandsons, Michael Hellems of Ripley and David Lemon of Blacksburg, VA; one step grandson, Brian Bays of Boise, ID; one great grandson, Xander Joefield of Ripley.
Memorial services will be 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 5:00-7:00 P.M., Saturday, December 28, 2013. At Mike?s request the body has been cremated.
